Kent Police are holding a two-week amnesty on unlicensed or unwanted firearms, imitation weapons and ammunition, to get them out of circulation.
The amnesty will run from 8.00am on Monday 31st October until 5.00pm on Friday 11 November at Police Stations across the county, including Sittingbourne Police Station on Central Avenue.
If you have an old weapon that's no longer used, wanted or licensed, or perhaps you have something that you've inherited and have stored in the loft or shed, this will be a perfect opportunity to dispose of it safely and help ensure it doesn't get into the wrong hands.
During the amnesty you can take along any unlicensed/unwanted firearms, imitation weapons or ammunition without fear of being prosecuted for having them.
If you can't get to a police station please call 101 to arrange for a firearm-trained officer to collect any items from you.
Important safety information: Anyone planning to transport a weapon must ensure it is safe before moving it. If you are in any doubt, please call Kent Police on 101 for assistance.
