Users March To Save Phoenix House

Users of central Sittingbourne's only community centre, Phoenix House on Central Avenue, took their campaign to the front of Swale House earlier today.

Up to 50 local groups currently use the centre, which is earmarked "for other uses" from February by Kent County Council (KCC).

Sara Seabridge, Centre Manager, told SFM News "The KCC have given us notice to vacate the building in February (2014). There are lots of groups using the current facility, which is in the heart of the town centre, who will find it difficult to relocate elsewhere".

Anyone who wishes to support the campaign is asked to pop in to Phoenix House and sign a petition letter.

At the time of writing KCC were asked for a response but had so far not provided one.
