Firefighters Tackle Field Fire Near Sittingbourne

Kent Fire and Rescue Service were called earlier today (Monday 3rd August) to field of corn stubble and straw alight off of Bottom Pond Road, Wormshill, just outside Sittingbourne.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene and crews used hose reel jets, beaters and water from portable tanks (called flexi packs) to put the fire out.

There were no reported casualties and the cause is not yet known.

Firefighters Tackle 300 Tonnes Of Hay Bales On Fire

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) dealt with a fire involving approximately 300 tonnes of baled hay in Matts Hill Road, Hartlip earlier today (Wednesday 26th October).

Three fire engines and a bulk water carrier were sent to the scene. Fire crews used two main jets and a hose reel to prevent the fire spreading to surrounding shrubbery.

Awards Ceremony To Honour Firefighters

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) held a special awards ceremony at Oakwood House in Maidstone yesterday (Tuesday 4th October) to honour firefighters and a South East Coast Ambulance Service advanced ambulance technician.

They were all presented with a Chief Executive's Certificate of Congratulation, in front of colleagues, family and friends at the special ceremony attended by Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant for Kent, Viscount De L'Isle MBE, the Chairman of Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority (KMFRA) Nick Chard and KFRS Chief Executive Ann Millington.

Firefighters Tackle Bredgar Barn Fire

Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) were called to Wrens Road in Bredgar earlier today (Wednesday 18th May) to reports of an open sided barn, containing baled hay that was well alight.

Crews used compressed air foam (CAFs) to tackle the blaze, that uses less water than traditional firefighting methods and is more environmentally sensitive providing rapid fire knockdown.
