Police Witness Appeal After High Street Assault

Witnesses are being sought by officers after a man was assaulted in Sittingbourne High Street ast week.

At around 7.30pm last Thursday (24th October) it was reported that the victim was walking along the High Street from the direction of East Street. As he walked past the graveyard, he was approached by a group of young men. One of the group jumped on the victim and they both fell to the floor. Whilst on the ground the victim was allegedly kicked in the face and hit in the head with a traffic cone sustaining facial injuries.

Two Arrests After Report Of Weapon In Sittingbourne

A second man has been arrested following a report of a disturbance in London Road, Sittingbourne in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 10th January).

Officers were called to the area at 2.53am after a member of the public reported that a man had been seen in possession of a weapon.

Armed officers attended as a precaution and arrested a 33-year-old man from Sittingbourne in connection with the incident.

A second man, a 32-year-old from Chatham, has now also been arrested.

Both remain in police custody.

Traffic Changes For Sittingbourne High Street

Shoppers in Sittingbourne will have traffic-free access to the top of the High Street on both Fridays and Saturdays, from this week.

The closure opens the way for the regular Friday Market to move to the High Street from The Forum car park in preparation for the new cinema and restaurants being built as part of the Spirit of Sittingbourne regeneration scheme.
