Overnight

Resurfacing work will close part of the A2 London Road in Teynham overnight for 11 nights, from today (Tuesday 20th June), meaning a lengthy diversion via the M2 for motorists travelling between Sittingbourne and Faversham.

A section of A2 London Road in Teynham, between Cellar Hill and the Fowler Welch Distribution Centre, will be inaccessible between 8pm and 5am with a diversion in place.

The official diversion route is via the A249, M2, A251 Ashford Road and finally back onto the A2 London Road with the reverse in the other direction (Londonbound).

As water supply returns to the Isle of Sheppey, Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) have confirmed that they "will begin to withdraw resources from the island throughout the day".

Between 1-3pm today (Friday 15th July) KFRS will clear hose line from the Ridham Dock area, during which time traffic will be managed with the assistance of Kent Police.

Information is being sought following a fatal collision on the M2 near Sittingbourne overnight.

The incident, which involved two cars, took place on the Londonbound carriageway, close to the junction 5 exit, at around 12.50am in the earky hours of this morning (Monday 3rd August) and involved a blue Toyota Yaris and a black BMW 320D. The sole occupant of the Toyota, a 34-year-old man from Rochester, died at the scene.

A 26-year-old man, from Chatham, was also arrested for causing death by dangerous driving and he remains in custody as enquiries continue.

Update Kent Police is appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the M20 late last night (Thursday 28th January).

The incident occurred at around 10.03pm on the London-bound carriageway between Junctions 4 (Leybourne) and 3 (M26). A Fiat Ducato van collided with a white DAF truck close to the junction with the M26. The van then caught fire and the driver was reported to have been unable to escape the vehicle.

Kent Police are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision that occurred on the A2 in Teynham at around 1.20am this morning.

The incident involved a blue Peugeot that was travelling from the Faversham direction towards Sittingbourne. The collision occurred near the Dover Castle public house. The car was carrying four young adults, three men and a woman.
