Kent Police have confirmed that a shop has been visited following concerns raised with the local beat officer in Milton Regis.

Kent County Council (KCC) Trading Standards have advised that a local elderly resident has been targeted by bogus council officials into paying £4,000 for urgent home repairs.

Here's what happened:-

• Cold called by two men claiming to be from Swale Borough Council
• Told occupant that they needed urgent repairs to be carried out on their house
• The work would cost £4,000 but that they would be able to claim the money back

KCC Trading Standards say that they have received a number of reports concenring a scam targeting residents throughout Kent, with offers of security checks and security alarms.

How the scam works:

Kent County Council's (KCC) Trading Standards Department are advising Galaxy Note 7 owners to turn off their smartphones following fire safety concerns.

The smartphone was recalled last month and owners were issued replacement phones, however there are still reports of batteries catching fire. As a result Samsung has announced it is ceasing all production of Galaxy Note 7's.

Customers with the original phone or a replacement should turn off the power immediately and contact the retailer where they purchased the device for a refund or an exchange.
