2020's Carnival Court Gets Selected

The Selection of the Sittingbourne Carnival Court for 2020 took place on Sunday (8th March) at The Appleyard.

Miss Sittingbourne for 2020 will be Emily Thomas and her two joint Sittingbourne Princesses for 2020 will be Shannon Evans and Nola Hart (all pictured above).

They were very excited to be chosen and look forward to representing their town at events throughout Kent, starting with the Teynham Court Selection this coming Saturday (14th March).

The annual selection of the Sittingbourne Carnival Court was held at the Woodcoombe Sports and Social Club in Murston on Saturday (9th March).

Four young ladies entered the competition and were judged individually by Rosie Trickey from Deal, Kingsdown and Walmer Carnival Association, Lauren McCall from the Sheppey Carnival Association, Sophie-Marie Dane - former Miss European England and Mr Terry West, President of Teynham Carnival Association.

Sittingbourne's new Carnival Court for 2018 has been announced following the Selection Night on Saturday (10th March).

The event was held at The Woodcombe Sports & Social Club in Murston and involved interviews and public speeches from the participants.

We wish them all a very happy and successful year ahead and look forward to seeing them with the SFM Roadshow Crew on Carnival Day this year - which is Saturday 23rd June.

This Year's Carnival Court Is Selected

Sittingbourne's new Carnival Court for 2017 was selected on Saturday (11th March) evening at the Woodcoombe Sports and Social Club in Murston.

The evening started with private interviews of the four applicants with the judges, followed by the contestants then speaking publically on stage to the audience, which consisted of their families, friends and visiting carnival courts from around Kent.

After the 2016 Court said their goodbyes the new court was announced:-

The new Sittingbourne Carnival Court was selected on Saturday (5th March) evening at the Woodcombe Sports And Social Club in Murston.

15-year old student Gemma Stokes was selected as Miss Sittingbourne Carnival Queen by a judging panel. The two Princesses on the Court this year will be Rebecca Port and Kendle Hunter. All the girls were crowned by Mayor Of Swale Cllr Anita Walker at a ceremony on the night.

On the Judging Panel were former Miss Sittingbourne 1981, Angela Maybourne, 106.9 SFM's very own Pete Flynn and Swale Borough Council's Regeneration Officer, Jill Read.

Sittingbourne Celebrates Carnival In Style

Despite strong winds, and a forecast of rain that didn't materialise, a great time was had by all at this year's Sittingbourne Carnival on Saturday (22nd June).

The 106.9 SFM Roadshow (in association with Green Cabs) was on hand to entertain the crowds in the High Street from 10am and live acts appearing included local bands Motto, Standing Ovation, Complicated, Stage 3 and the Inca band along with performances from flautist Jenny Cazelly and Sammies Dance.
