Dispersal Order Issued Following Antisocial Behaviour

Kent Police have put in place a Dispersal Order covering Sittingbourne town centre across this weekend.

It's been issued after concerns from residents and business owners over recent incidents of antisocial behaviour throughout the area.

The enforcement earlier today (Friday 9th August) at 2pm and will run until 10pm on Sunday (11th August) night and covers the High Street, East Street, Roman Square, The Avenue of Remembrance, William Street, Grafton Road, The Butts, the entire section of the A2 that passes through the town along with Milton Road and Fountain Street.

Broadstairs Disturbance - Local Teenagers Arrested

Three teenage boys from Sittingbourne have been arrested following a disturbance in Broadstairs last week.

The incident happened at the seafront end of the town's High Street at 5.07pm on Friday (10th June). It is alleged four or five people assaulted a second group and then left the scene.

Officers attended and a bladed weapon was located and seized. No injuries were reported at the scene but subsequent enquiries suggest one person may have suffered a minor injury.

Man Charged Following Railway Station Assault

A suspect has been charged with multiple offences following an incident in which two people were assaulted at the railway station.

Kent Police officers arrested a man in Sittingbourne High Street on Tuesday (15th February) following a report that a person had spat at two people in the station between 7pm and 7.20pm.

As they attempted to arrest the man he is reported to have ran in the opposite direction from officers before he was apprehended. He was then alleged to have tried to headbutt one of the arresting officers.

Escaped Prisoner Jailed Following Police Pursuit

An escaped prisoner, who led officers on a police pursuit near Sittingbourne, has been jailed.

William Adams was handed a two-year and four-month prison sentence after admitting dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.

He was additionally charged with being unlawfully at large after he absconded from a prison in Sussex on 14 July 2021. He was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday 27 January 2022.

Police Appeal Following Fatal M2 Collision

Information is being sought following a fatal collision on the coastbound M2 near Blue Bell Hill yesterday (Tuesday 16th February) morning.

At  approximately 11.28am Kent Police were called to the collision, involving a blue Vauxhall Corsa and a white Kia Picanto between Junctions 3 and 4.

A 79-year-old man was confirmed deceased at the scene. A woman suffered injuries and was taken to hospital and a third vehicle, an articulated lorry, sustained damage from the debris shortly after the collision.

Charges Brought Following Sittingbourne Assault

Officers investigating a serious assault in Sittingbourne last week, have charged two people.

Kent Police were called to Woodstock Road at 10.53pm on Thursday (26th November) after a woman reported that two people had seriously assaulted her partner and caused damage to her vehicle. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers from Swale’s Community Policing Team responded to the incident and stopped a vehicle in Borden Lane at around 11.00pm where two people were arrested on suspicion of assault.

Police Appeal Following Weekend M2 Collision

Kent Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision near to Junction 5 of the M2 in the early hours of Saturday (5th September) morning.

At around 2:00am a grey BMW 3 Series and a white Nissan NV200 Acenta were involved in a collision near the slip road that joins the Londonbound motorway.

Two people were taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries that were not described as serious however significant damage was done to both vehicles.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witness to a collision in Sittingbourne.

Kent Police were called at 6.40pm on Saturday (20th June) to a report of a collision between a blue Volkswagen Golf and a cyclist on the A2 London Road near the junction with Hempstead Lane.

Officers attended along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance for Kent, Surrey and Sussex and a 62-year-old man from Sittingbourne was taken to a London hospital by road. He remains in a serious but stable condition.

Two Arrested Following 'Mass Gathering'

Two people have been arrested and enquiries are ongoing following a 'mass gathering' in Sittingbourne.

Approximately 150 people attended a funeral at the Garden of England Crematorium on Sheppey Way in Bobbing on Thursday (16th April) resulting in concerns about social distancing during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Kent Police say that they "received notification of the funeral the evening before it was due to take place" and was therefore unable to speak to those attending to encourage them to adhere to social distancing measures.

Witnesses Sought Following Sittingbourne Collision

Witnesses are being sought after a teenager suffered serious injuries following a collision in Sittingbourne at the weekend.

A blue Volkswagen Scirocco was travelling along Mill Way from Eurolink Way when it was involved in a collision with a pedestrian who was crossing the road. The collision took place at around 6.25pm on Sunday (12th January) evening. A teenage boy was taken to a London hospital with head injuries and remains in a serious condition.
